Gold Panda coins are one of the few bullion series to feature an annually changing design. In 2016, the series transitioned to the metric system, replacing the traditional 1 oz Gold Panda with the new 30-gram Gold Panda. Despite this change, the coin maintains its purity of 999 fine gold, continuing the legacy of this highly sought-after series.
2016 China Panda Design
The obverse of the coin prominently features China’s beloved giant panda. The 2016 design showcases a single panda resting on a tree branch, capturing the animal’s gentle and serene nature. The intricate detailing and fine engraving bring the scene to life, making it a cherished piece among collectors.
On the reverse side, the coin depicts the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The design is encircled by the inscription “People’s Republic of China” in Chinese, along with the year of issue, 2016.
